MidWeek Recap

Dear RE.THINKERS,
It was a joy to gather together this past Sunday. If you were with us, we hope Heather’s message continues to stir your heart throughout the week. If you missed it, we want to make sure you do not miss what God shared with us.
Summary: The sermon explored what it truly means to walk in new life through Jesus Christ. Heather brought a powerful, scripture-rich message rooted in Romans 5, 6, and 8, Galatians 5, Hebrews 12, and 2 Corinthians 5, challenging us to move beyond simply receiving salvation and into the active, daily process of allowing Christ to be Lord over every area of our lives. Just as a newborn must grow and learn to thrive, we are called to nourish the things of the Spirit and put to death the things of the flesh. This is not a one-time moment but an ongoing race that God has uniquely marked out for each of us.
Takeaways:
  • Salvation is the beginning, not the destination. Accepting Christ forgives our sin, but lordship calls us to surrender every area of our lives to him, not just the ones we are comfortable giving up. We must choose daily whether we will be mastered by the old life or the new life that Christ offers.
  • We are called to run our race unencumbered. Just as a serious runner would never line up on race day weighed down, we are invited to throw off the sin that entangles us so we can run with perseverance the race God has marked out for us. Freedom is the fruit of that process, even when the process itself is difficult.
  • We are ambassadors of reconciliation. God has not only given us new life, he has commissioned us to carry that message to others. There are people near to each of us who are far from God. This week, consider who your three are, pray for them specifically, and trust the Holy Spirit to guide those conversations.
We encourage you to go back to the scriptures referenced this Sunday, sit with the Holy Spirit, and ask him to make these truths personal and alive in your life this week. Take an act of kindness card if you have not already, and look for opportunities to put your faith into action.
